Riley Stewart

Riley Stewart enters his first season as the Head Cross Country coach and third year as an Assistant Track & Field Coach at Pacific University. Stewart has also been the Assistant Cross Country Coach for 2023 and 2024 seasons. He primarily works with all of the distance runners in the track & field program.

In the 2025 Outdoor season, Stewart coached Morgan Boddy atop the podium in the 3000m steeplechase. Marking this the fourth time in five years a Boxer has been top of the podium in the event.

In the 2024 Cross Country season, Stewart guided Megan Feitz to an 8th place and Second-Team All-Conference honors. He also coached Peyton Fisher to a 29th placing earning him Northwest Conference Rookie of the Year.

In the 2024 Outdoor Track season, Henry Tierney broke the 1500m school record with a time of 3:49.55. Tierney also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in the 800m. He finished 13th place earning him second team All-American honors. In the 2024 Indoor Track season, the Boxers broke two school records. Henry Tierney and Annie Berry took down the men's and women's mile records with their times of 4:13.51 and 5:11.17, respectively. Stewart also helped guide Cris Brethower to a NWC victory in the 3000m Steeplechase.

In the 2023 Cross Country season, the women's team produced a third place finish, with Annie Berry earning Second-Team All-Conference honors for her 9th place finish. Berry went on to also earn All-Region Honors for her 21st place finish in the NCAA DIII West Region Championships.

In the 2023 track season, Stewart guided the distance runners to prominent success. Freshman Henry Tierney won the men's 800m race, and went on to place second in the 1500m. The last time a Pacific man won the 800m was in 1998. Junior Annie Berry continued her successful year by placing second in the women's 1500m at the NWC Outdoor Championships, and then going on to set the women's 800m school record (2:12.51). Maddy Hubbs placed 3rd in the NWC Outdoor Championship women's steeplechase - Hubbs has placed in the top three of that event her entire career. Annie Berry earned All-West Region Honors from USTFCCCA for her performance in the
800m.

Stewart graduated from Pacific with a B.A. in physics and math and received his Masters in Arts in Teaching (MAT). Stewart was a decorated runner on the men’s team. During his senior year, Stewart was 4th in Northwest Conference Cross Country Championships, 14th in the NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships, and was an NCAA DIII National Cross Country Championships qualifier. Stewart was an Academic All-American in cross country in 2021. In the spring of 2022, Stewart finished 3rd in the 1500m finals at the NWC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
