Pacific University's athletic programs moved into a new era of excellence in 2008, thanks to the completion of the massive Lincoln Park Athletic Complex, located north of the Stoller Center.
The $11 million complex is the result of a unique partnership between the University and the City of Forest Grove, providing a series of three first-class athletic facilities that will provide years of use for Pacific athletes and community members.
Construction of the complex started in March 2007. Hanson Stadium, which features a FieldTurf surface for soccer and lacrosse and a nine-lane track, opened in September 2007. Chuck Bafaro Stadium at Bond Field, a new baseball facility, opened in March 2008. Sherman/Larkins Stadium, home of Pacific softball, opened in April 2008.
In addition to the facilities, the Lincoln Park Athletic Complex includes a natural grass field for both soccer and track throwing events, a fit trail that lines the outer perimeter of the facility, and playground equipment located on the park's north end.
The complex has been lauded as one of the top it's kind in the nation, both as a small college facility and as a community athletic complex. In 2010, the softball component of the complex, Sherman/Larkins Stadium, was named the Small College Softball Facility of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Funds for the Lincoln Park Athletic Complex were provided by Pacific University, with the City of Forest Grove retaining ownership and control of the park.
