GENEVA, Ohio - Emily Sproul (Salem, Ore.) finished seventh in the women's javelin throw at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships on Thursday and earned All-American honors in the process.  Sproul, who was competing at the national meet for the third straight year, earned the honor for the second straight year as she also finished seventh in 2016.

Sproul, who was in the second of two flights of 11 competitors, was in 18th place after the first two rounds of throws in her flight.  On her third throw she launched the javelin 42.41m (139-2), her second best career throw, and moved into third place.  In a crazy final three rounds of throws, none of the nine competitors finished in the same position they began.  Sproul ended up in seventh place, two places higher than her seed entering the meet.

Six of Pacific's eight track & field All-Americans are javelin throwers.  Sproul joins Dee Dee Arnall '06 as a two-time All-American in the event.
