SALEM, Ore. — Mackenzie Huddleston and Stephenie Spencer both finished second in their respective events in loaded fields at the Willamette Invitational, and also moved up the Pacific all-time charts at the same time.

That Boxer duo's efforts highlighted a number of good Pacific performances in a meet that featured many of the top small college and Division I teams in the northwest on the Charles Bowles Track at McCulloch Stadium.

Huddleston finished second in the javelin with a fling of 147-11, her career best. That puts her third on the Pacific all-time list, and is currently the second best throw in the NWC this year. The event was won by the University of Portland's Kaylie Van Loo with a toss of 155-2.

Spencer crossed the line second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:01.79. That mark moves her up to second on Pacific's Top 10. Courtney Cox of UP won in 17:53.87. It is also the fourth best time in the Northwest Conference thus far.

Marissa Smith was another Boxer to move up on the all-time PU list. She bettered her NWC qualifying time in the 200 meters (26.35) and is now third all-time in Pacific history.

Other women's teams highlights included Shannon Hammond's improvement in the triple jump (35-4), a NWC qualifier.

For the men, Conner Pappas improved his conference qualifier marks in the 100 and 200 meters. He finished in the middle of the pack in both, moving to 11.32 in the 100 and to 22.68 in the 200.

Sean Higinbotham clocked 51.58 in the 400 meters, his best time of the year.

The Boxer men's and women's teams will be in McMinnville next Saturday, competing in the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational at Linfield.
