During a meet that featured temperatures in the mid 40's and sideways rain, the Boxers, Linfield, George Fox and Lewis & Clark slogged through a miserable weather day, but got in good work in their second outdoor meet of the year. Western Oregon had a few entrants and a handful of unattached athletes also competed. Times and marks were obviously affected by the elements.
The Boxers got first place finishes on the day from
Kelsey Lee,
Marissa Smith and
Sarah Curl.
Lee won the 400 hurdles in 1:06.34, two seconds slower than her mark last Saturday in better conditions. Smith won the 200 meters (26.73), Curl, in her first collegiate track and field event, topped the high jump field.
Megan Eberhardt finished second in the 400 meters (1:01.87),
Karen Du was second in the discus, ditto for
Dianna Church in the shot put and
Emily Sproul in the javelin.
For the Boxer men,
Garrett Price crossed the line second in the 200 meters (22.89) and
Langston Engle was third in the 400 meters (52.14). Price also placed fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.34.
The Boxers will be back in action next Saturday (March 19) in Portland at the Spring Break Open, hosted by Lewis & Clark College.
