PORTLAND, Ore. —
Stephenie Spencer and
Marissa Smith set Pacific University indoor school records to highlight Boxer efforts at the TrackTown USA High Performance Meet #2 on Friday night at the Nike+ Run Club House of Track.
Spencer smashed a two-year old mark in the 5,000 meters. The sophomore clocked 18:21.99 in the two-person race, taking down the previous school mark of 18:55.52 established by Lisa Martin in 2014. Last week, the Bothell, Wash. native broke Pacific's indoor record in the 3,000 meters.
Smith, a freshman from Rancho Cordova, Calif., re-wrote Pacific's standard for the second week in a row in the 200 meters. Tonight, she placed fourth out of 19 sprinters with a time of 26.85.
Jess Knoll had a solid race in the 800 meters, placing fourth with a time of 2:23.04.
Spencer and Knoll were also part of Pacific record written in the 4 x 400 relay (4:24.43).
Megan Eberhardt and
Marlee Chovich ran the first and anchor legs.
Shannon Hammond established a mark to beat in the triple jump tonight as well at 9.65 meters.
Langston Engle finished sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 52.60 for the men.
Garrett Price advanced in a deep field to reach the final of the 60 meters, clocking 7.39.
The Boxers, who competed alongside a number of world class runners tonight, will return to the House of Track next Friday for the TrackTown USA High Performance Meet #3. The facility is located in Portland's Pearl District.
