FOREST GROVE – A pair of record performances by Shannon Hammond (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) in the women's high jump and Britta LaVoie (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) in the women's pole vault led a great two days for the Pacific track and field teams at their own Pacific Twilight meet, which concluded Saturday at Hanson Stadium.

Hammond won the women's high jump and eclipsed the Pacific record in her hometown.  Her mark of 5 feet, 3.25 inches bettered the previous record of 5 feet, 3 inches, set by Chloe Hallyburton in 2013.  LaVoie, meanwhile, kept her record breaking ways up in the women's pole vault, with her winning mark of 11 feet, 8 inches breaking her own record by 1.75 inches.

The performances wrapped up an event that saw Pacific athletes win 13 events and make five additional movements on the school's all-time top-10 lists in addition to the two records.

Emily Sproul (Fr., Salem, Ore.) put together the most impressive victory for the Boxers, winning the women's javelin on Friday with a 10-foot personal best of 136 feet, 9 inches.  The performance moved Sproul into No. 3 on Pacific's all-time list.

Pacific's 1,600-meter relay team of Hayley Palmer (Sr., Sisters, Ore.), Dawne Yamamoto (Jr., Mililani, Hawaii), Marlee Chovich (So., Oregon City, Ore.) and Mikaela Bernards (Fr., Hillsboro, Ore.) won with a time of 4:09.16 that proved the second fastest time in school history.  The same four earlier in the meet took second in the 400-meter relay with the third fastest time in school history at 49.74 seconds.

Kris Sapp (So., Sacramento, Calif.) topped the Pacific men's performances, winning the 100 meters in 11.00 seconds and then winning the 200 meters in 22.15 to move into No. 8 on the Pacific all-time list. Sean Higinbotham (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) won the 400 meters in a time of 50.34 seconds and also tied with teammate Trey Oshiro-Atabay (Sr., Aiea, Hawaii) for second in the 200 meter with a time of 22.44 seconds.  The men's 400-meter relay team Higinbotham, Sapp, Oshiro-Atabay and Hawkins also won with a time of 42.14 seconds.

Budweiser Hawkins (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.) won both of his events in his final home meet, capturing the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 7 inches and the high jump with a clearance of 6 feet, 2.75 inches.  Jesse Bethke (Sr., Cave Junction, Ore.) won the men's discus in his final meet with a throw of 147 feet, 7 inches.  Nate Olowo (Fr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) won the men's triple jump with a mark of 44 feet, 8 inches and Nathan Phillips (So., Myrtle Creek, Ore.) won the javelin with a mark of 174 feet, 10 inches.

For the Pacific women, Chovich improved her best in the 100 meters with a time of 12.83 seconds, improving her No. 3 spot on the Pacific all-time list.  Dianna Church (Fr., Bothell, Wash.) improved to No. 5 on the all-time list in the women's shot put, placing second with a mark of 38 feet, 2 inches.

Two Hanson Stadium records were also broken on Saturday.  Damien Moore of the Iron Wood Track Club won the men's shot put, smashing the stadium record by four feet with his mark of 63 feet, 2.25 inches.  Concordia's men's 3,200-meter relay team, competing along, cut 15 seconds off of the stadium record with their time of 7:34.24.

The end of the regular season for the Pacific track and field program is next week with athletes still competing for nationals bids competing in a pair of meets.  Select athletes will compete in the Oregon Twilight on Friday at Hayward Field while others will compete at the Linfield Open on Saturday in McMinnville.
