EUGENE, Ore. – Travis George (Sr., Grants Pass, Ore.) came close to resetting his own school record and earning a win at Hayward Field, placing second in the men's hammer at the Oregon Twilight on Friday night.

George finished with his second best performance of the season, flinging the hammer 169 feet, 6 inches.  The mark was just two feet of his record effort of 171 feet, 5 inches, set two weeks ago at the Northwest Conference Championships.  Cullen Prena won the event with a mark of 171 feet, 4 inches.

Jesse Bethke (Jr., Cave Junction, Ore.) was Pacific's only other competitor in the meet, placing third in the men's discus with a mark of 140 feet, 6 inches.

The balance of Pacific's remaining track and field athletes still competing will be split between two meets.  Tyler Shipley (So., Forest Grove, Ore.) and Kelson Kawai (Sr., North Kohala, Hawaii) will compete in Los Angeles at the Oxy Invite.  The rest will compete at the Linfield Last Chance Meet in McMinnville.
