FOREST GROVE – After seven years leading the Pacific cross country and track and field photos, Tim Boyce has stepped down as head coach to pursue other opportunities.

Director of Athletics Ken Schumann announced Boyce's resignation Thursday morning.  A search for a new head coach for the six varsity programs will begin immediately.

Boyce arrived at Pacific in 2006 to serve as an assistant coach under former head coach Ron Tabb and was elevated to head coach in 2007 after seven years as the head cross country and track and field coach at Oswego State in Oswego, N.Y.

As cross country coach, Boyce coached three athletes to NCAA Division III championships appearances and mentored Kelsey Owens during her 2008 All-American season.  On the track, Boyce coached seven Northwest Conference champions, including four-time distance champion Tyler Shipley.  His 2013 men's track and field team finished third in the NWC Championships and amassed the second most points in a conference meet in program history.  Last April, the Boxer men finished second at the conference meet for just the sixth time in program history.

Boyce also oversaw the addition of men's and women's indoor track and field as intercollegiate teams for the 2013 season.  He also oversaw the hosting a number of high profile meets by Pacific, including the 2009 NWC Track and Field Championships, the 2012 NWC Cross Country Championships, the 2013 Big Sky Conference Track and Field Championships and the annual Pacific Twilight track meet.
