Mau, Linton Lead Boxers In Season-Opening Boxer Classic

BANKS, Ore. –
Joshua Mau (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) and
Kaci Linton (Sr., Keizer, Ore.) topped the leader board for the Pacific golf teams in their opening competitions of the 2012-13 season Saturday as they hosted the first day of the Boxer Classic at the Quail Valley Golf Course.
Mau ended the opening round in a tie with Linfield's A.J. Taylor for seventh place, scoring a four-over-par 76. He helped lead the Boxers to fifth place in the first round with a team score of 576.
Linton found herself in a three-way tie for eighth place in the women's competition, carding an 11-over-par 83. She led the Boxers to a fourth place finish in the first day with a team score of 380.
Corban took the lead after the first day on the men's side with a score of 11-over-par 299. The Warriors' Jared Lambert leads individually with a two-under-par 70, while Linfield's Taylor Klopp is second with a one-under-par 71.
Pacific's
Thomas Hubbell tied for 22nd place on the first day with a round of 86.
Jesse Bethke (So., Cave Junction, Ore.) is in 25th place with an 88.
Gage Josi (Jr., Scappoose, Ore.) sits in a tie for 27th place with a 91 and Mitch Gaylord rounded out the Pacific scoring with a 30th place score of 98.
Nationally ranked George Fox leads the women's tournament with a score of 307. The Bruins' Kelsey Morrison owns a six-stroke lead to top the leaderboard with a two-under-par 70.
Emily Thorud (Sr., Gaston, Ore.) finished one stroke behind Linton in a tie for 11th place with a score of 84.
Claire Ramaley finished day one in 19th place with a score 104,
Emily Penttila is in 20th with a score of 109 and
Courtney Manning (Jr., Hillsboro, Ore.) is in 21st with a score of 113.
Play in the Boxer Classic continues on Sunday with the first foursomes teeing off at 11 a.m.
