Mau Leads Boxers In Boxer Classic

Banks, Ore. – Josh Mau led the Boxers with a 14th place finish as the Boxers placed fifth in the season-opening Boxer Classic tournament at Quail Valley Golf Course on Sunday.
 
Mau finished in a three-way tie for 14th with Daniel Hoffman from Whitman and Cody Plofker from Willamette. After a 76 score yesterday, Mau finished with a 79, totaling at 155.
 
Thomas Hubbell finished with a score of 172, placing 25th. Jesse Bethke (So., Cave Junction, Ore.) finished in 27th place with an overall total of 179. Gage Josi was right behind in 28th place with a score of 185. Mitch Gaylord would score a 203 for a 31st place finish.  The Boxers finished with a total score of 681.
 
Corban and Linfield finished tied for first. A two-hole sudden death playoff took place. Ten players (5 from each team) took part on the first hold, the 10th hole, with both teams tying with three birdies and a par.
 
The playoff then moved to the ninth hole, with two players competing from each team. Corban scored two pars, while Linfield carded a par and bogey to claim the tournament title.
 
Taylor Flopp from Linfield earned medalist honors, finishing with a score of 143, one-under-par. On Sunday, Taylor finished with a score of 72.
 
The Boxers will travel to play in the Pacific Lutheran Invitational on Oct. 15 and 16.
