FOREST GROVE – Fans of the West Coast League's Corvallis Knights are sending Pacific's Rob Dittrick (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) to the circuit's All-Star Game later this month.

The two-time First Team All-Northwest Conference pitcher has been voted by fans to represent the Knights in the West Coast League's All-Star Game, which takes place on Tues., July 24 at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla, Wash.  Dittrick was a runaway winner in fan balloting, receiving over 90,000 of a total of 151,000 cast on the team's website.

“Our coaches love the kid.  He's very respectful, a hard worker and a competitor,” said Corvallis Knights President Dan Segel in an email sent to Pacific Head Coach Greg Bradley.  “He's exceeded our expectations and we hope he helps us get to the post season and win a title.”

Initially signed to a 10-day contract with the club following Pacific's 2012 championship season, Dittrick has impressed the Knights staff with his power and control.   As of July 14, Dittrick had amassed a 3-1 record in seven appearances with a 1.54 earned run average and 19 strikeouts in a team-high 35 innings.

He earned a win in his first appearance with the Knights, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.2 innings of relief at Walla Walla on June 1.  Dittrick took a no decision in his first start on June 6, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts against Klamath Falls.

The summer with the collegiate-aged wood bat league has served as an extension of an already great baseball season for the Mid-Pacific Institute graduate.  Named a First Team All-Northwest Conference selection for the second time in 2012, Dittrick was also named to the D3Baseball.com All-West Region Team after he helped to lead Pacific to its first league title in 33 years.

Dittrick finished his 2012 Pacific season with an 8-2 record and a 2.87 earned run average.  He led the NWC and was ranked 18th among NCAA Division III pitchers in wins.  He also ranked second in the NWC and 43rd in Division III with five complete games.  Pacific's ace for the second straight season, Dittrick won seven straight games during the conference schedule.  In 75.1 innings, Dittrick allowed 28 runs on 67 hits, struck out 54 batters and allowed just 11 walks while compiling a .242 opponent's batting average.

“I have seen two of Rob's games so far and he looks confident, focused and happy to be playing for the Knights,” Bradley said.  “He has worked very hard to become the athlete and pitcher that he is today.”
