Morgan Joseph

Morgan Joseph enters her sixth season as the head coach of the Pacific women’s soccer program in 2015.
 
Joseph’s Boxers finished the 2014 season 6-13-1, including a late season victory over rival George Fox that completed a season sweep of the Bruins.
 
Individually, the 2014 Boxers saw Ashley Park-Hunt and Kara Lankey earn postseason recognition from the conference coaches. Park-Hunt featured at center back for the Boxers during the season and was named Second Team All-NWC, while Lankey picked up an honorable mention nod.
During the 2013 season, the Boxers saw a much-improved offense. Pacific netted 31 goals on the year, the most by a Pacific squad since 2005 and the third-most goals in the conference. The Boxers also ended amongst the top third of the NWC in numerous other statistical categories.
 
In 2011, Joseph’s second season at the helm, she led the women’s program to its first 10-win season since 2003. The Boxers tied the program’s single season record of 34 points with a 10-6-4 overall record (7-5-4 NWC).
 
In 2010, Joseph piloted the Boxers to an 8-6-2 NWC mark and a fourth place finish, the high placing for a Boxer’s women’s soccer team since 2003 and their best conference record since 1984. With an 8-9-3 overall record, Pacific had its winningest season in eight years, jumping two places in the NWC standings from the previous season.
 
Prior to her arrival at Pacific, Joseph spent two seasons (2008 and 2009) as the top assistant coach at Oregon State as the Beavers made their first run to the NCAA Tournament since 1994. She played a key role, as the Beavers became the second most improved team in Division I women’s soccer with a 14-8-1 record and advanced to “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Tournament in school history. The Beavers finished ranked No. 21 in the nation.
 
A vested member of the Oregon State program, Joseph was a four-year standout player for the Beavers from 1999 to 2002. She was a two-time Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 Conference selection in 2000 and 2001, was named to the All-Academic Pac-10 Conference team in 2001 and 2002 and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII honors in 2002. In 77 career matches for the Beavers, Joseph led the team in shots in 2000 and 2001 and led the team in assists in 2000.
 
Joseph went on to play at the semi-professional level. She spent two seasons with the New Hampshire Phantoms of the United Soccer League’s W-League and one season with the Massachusetts Stingers of the Women’s Professional Soccer League.
 
Before returning to coach in Corvallis, Joseph spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Idaho. She also has extensive club coaching experience around the region, working with the F.C Willamette, Moscow (Idaho) United, Lake Oswego and Oregon United Soccer Academy programs. She has also worked with the Idaho and Far West Region Olympic development programs.
 
A native of Eugene, Joseph graduated summa cum laude from Oregon State in 2003 with a degree in philosophy. She has completed coursework towards a master’s in physical education from Idaho. Her husband, Dane Christian Joseph, serves as the program’s Associate Head Coach.
