ABOUT THE CAMP

The Portland Timbers only residential camp of 2012 is specifically designed to provide an experience of what it is like to be a collegiate and pro athlete. It is a great preparation for high school or college. Players will be trained and evaluated by the Portland Timbers coaching staff who will run the Academy teams next season. The camp is open to individuals, club or high school teams. Places are limited so book now.

CURRICULUM
The curriculum will develop the technical skills and tactical awareness of the competitive soccer player. Camp will include; technical and tactical training on the field, team video work, classroom sessions on team tactics and sports psychology. During the week campers will also undergo agility and speed assessment and training by the Portland Timbers strength/conditioning staff and a college prep classroom session with VSI, the Timbers college prep group.

ELITE CAMP & TEAM CAMP
The Timbers will run Elite groups for those planning on playing college soccer. Camp will be augmented with college recruiting presentations and each session will be run by a member of the Timbers coaching staff. Players will be grouped by age and ability or they may apply as a team (see discount). Please submit brief soccer resume with application. After the first day of training and evaluation groups will be finalized at the Camp Director's discretion.

GOALKEEPERS
The Portland Timbers recognize the specialized needs of goalkeeper training. Goalkeepers will be trained with teams as well as receive individualized training in separate sessions by Timbers staff goalkeeper coaches.

CAMP DIRECTOR & STAFF
Mike Smith
Academy Director/ODP Director, Portland Timbers

Originally from Scotland, Smith has been on the US Soccer National Instructional staff since 1999 and holds his USSF National ‘A’ License and National Youth Licenses from US Soccer and KNVB. Smith has been the Regional Head Coach for the Olympic Development Program, worked with the U17 National Team and been Associate Head Coach at University of Oregon and Santa Clara University.

Adam Smith
Academy Director/Goalkeeping Director, Portland Timbers

Academy Director / Goalkeeping Director, Portland Timbers Originally from England, Adam has played and coached professionally, including as an assistant coach for the Portland Timbers First Team in 2010 & 2011 and the successful 2010 U23 PDL National Championship winning team. Adam holds his USSF National ‘A’ License, USSF National ‘GK’ License, NSCAA National ‘GK’ License and has completed parts 1 & 2 of the ‘UEFA A’ License.

Jim Brazeau
Head Men's Soccer Coach, Pacific University & Former Goalkeepers Coach, Portland Timbers

Brazeau has led the Boxers to 5 consecutive winning seasons. He is also a former professional player and has had two stints as assistant coach with the Portland Timbers from 2001-2005 and from 2007-2009.

Portland Timbers Players and Camp Staff
The Portland Timbers Residential Camp, features an outstanding coaching staff, led by Portland Timbers coaches, as well as top west region College coaches and Olympic Development Program coaches, as well as Timbers players from the first team and reserves. The curriculum is specifically designed by the Timbers coaching staff to challenge players, both mentally and physically, in a friendly, encouraging and professional environment.

CAMP TUITION BEFORE JUNE 1
$500.00 for advanced registration.
(A $25 discount for each sibling/teammate, $50 for teams if over 12 from the same team sign-up and $400 for commuter campers)

CAMP TUITION AFTER JUNE 1
$525.00 for advanced registration.
$475.00 per team member.
$425.00 for commuter campers.
