Boxer Softball Coaches Receive Hall of Fame Induction

Tim Hill and Paul Sabah recognized for their 25 years coaching the dominant Oregon Sun Supply youth program

Tim Hill & Paul Sabah FOREST GROVE - A long, distinguished career in softball for Pacific University coaches Tim Hill and Paul Sabah will be honored Saturday as both men earn enshrinement to Amateur Softball Association's (ASA) Oregon Hall of Fame.

Hill, in his fourth year as the Boxers' head softball coach, led the Oregon Sun Supply ASA team for 25 years, molding them into one of the nation's most dominant youth programs. The team reached the pinnacle of softball excellence in 2002 as Sun Supply captured the ASA under-16 national championship.

During his tenure, Hill amassed an amazing 1029-326 record. In addition to the 2002 national crown, Hill's Sun Supply teams garnered a fifth place finish in 1995, third place finishes in 1997 and 2001 and reached the ASA National Tournament 13 of Hill's last 14 seasons.

Sabah, who is in his fourth season as an assistant coach in the Pacific program, served as Hill's assistant coach during his entire 25-year tenure. Both coaches retired from the Sun Supply program after the 2004 season.

As Pacific's coaches, Hill and Sabah, along with assistant coach Dennis Keller, have succeeded in a turnaround of the Boxers' softball program. After inheriting a team that had won 13 games in two seasons, the staff has led the Boxers to double-digit wins in each of their three years. Their efforts have been topped by a 22-18 record during the 2004 season, the first 20-win season for the program since 1998.

Prior to arriving at Pacific, Hill served two seasons as the head coach at George Fox University in Newberg, where he was named the Northwest Conference Coach of the Year in 2001.

The induction ceremony will be held at the Red Lion Hotel in Salem, beginning at 7:00 p.m. For more information on the ceremony, contact Oregon ASA Commissioner Mike Wells at 503-445-2420.
