Rochelle ReevesFOREST GROVE Pacific used a 23-point performance by Rochelle Reeves (Jr., Gresham, Ore., pictured) and a 20-point, 12-rebound effort by Julianne Erbe (Fr., Canby, Ore.) to notch an 84-59 victory over Willamette in the Boxers' Northwest Conference women's basketball season opener at Pacific Athletic Center.

Reeves shot 8 for 21 from the field, 5 of 5 from the free throw line and canned two three-pointers, while Erbe connected on 7 of 9 from the field and 6 of 8 from the charity stripe, pacing the Boxers' best shooting night of the season.  The Boxers (3-10, 2-3 NWC) hit 48.3 percent (28-58) from the field, including 16 of 28 in the second half, and 82.8 percent (24-29 from the free throw line.

Alex Zennan led Willamette (1-10, 0-5 NWC) with an impressive 29-point effort, connecting on 10 of 20 from the field with four three-pointers.  Kaileigh Westermann added 11 points as the Bearcats shot 33.9 percent (21-62) from the field.

The Boxers succeeded in holding Molly Fillion, the conference's leading scorer at 14.9 points per game, scoreless on 0 of 5 from the field.

Pacific never trailed in the contest and managed to build their first double-digit lead of 16-6 on Brittney Anderson's (Fr., Missoula, Mont.) lay-in seven minutes into the half and went up 20-6 on Reeves' jumper at the 12:22 mark.  Willamette whittled the lead back to nine points before Mallory Goldammer's (Jr., Tigard, Ore.) three-pointer ignited an 11-0 run to go ahead 31-11 with 6:20 remaining.  The Boxers went into halftime with a 40-22 lead.  Willamette hit just six field goals in the first half.

While the Bearcats improved their shooting to 45 percent in the second half, Pacific was even hotter, connecting on 16 of 28 from the field and 10 of 11 from the free throw line.  Reeves capitalized on a three-point play to give the Boxers a 21-point lead, 49-28, five minutes into the period.  By the time Andrea Jones (Fr., Orland, Calif.) hit a lay-in midway through the half, the Boxers were ahead by 27 points at 59-32.

Willamette never got closer than 23 points the rest of the way.  The Boxers built their biggest lead of the game on a Brandi Palmer (Fr., Sisters, Ore.) free throw with 2:18 to go and matched that margin two more times before the final horn.

After a weekend off, Pacific will return to action for a pair of challenging contests.  The Boxers travel to Puget Sound on Friday night before returning home for a Saturday contest against Linfield.  Willamette returns to action this Saturday, traveling to Lewis & Clark.
